Reasons for Writing This Blog

My reason for writing this blog is several fold. First and foremost, I want to share my unique perspective as an adult living with Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum (ACC). This condition shapes my daily experiences and understanding of the world in ways that I believe are worth sharing. By opening up about my journey, I hope to shed light on the nuances of living with ACC, which may not be widely understood.

Secondly, I aim to reach out to other adults who have a DCC. It can often feel isolating to navigate life with such challenges, and I want to convey a message of solidarity to those who might be feeling alone in their experiences. By sharing my stories, insights, and coping strategies, I hope to create a sense of community among those who are also dealing with a DCC. Together, we can support one another and find comfort in our shared journeys.

Finally, I hope my blog resonates with parents of children who have a DCC. Understanding what their loved ones are going through can be a daunting task, and I aspire to provide some clarity and insight into the lives of those affected by DCCs. By sharing my experiences, I want to help parents gain a better understanding of their child's challenges and triumphs, fostering empathy and connection. My hope is that this blog will serve as a bridge between the experiences of adults with DCC and the parents who care for them, ultimately enriching their relationships and promoting understanding.

Adults with a DCC

Let me tell you, one of the most heartwarming experiences I've ever had was being part of this panel of adults who all had DCCs, answering questions from parents and siblings. It was such a cool vibe! I mean, sitting there, sharing our stories and insights, I really felt like I was doing something meaningful. It was like I had this higher purpose, you know? Like, my reason for being in this world was to help make life a bit easier and better for those who are just starting out on their journeys, just like I once did.

Seeing the curiosity in the eyes of the parents and siblings made it all the more special. They were eager to learn and understand, and I could feel that energy in the room. It was a reminder of how important it is to share our experiences and support each other. I left that day feeling inspired and grateful, knowing that I was part of something bigger than myself. It truly warmed my heart to think I could make a difference, even if it was just by answering a few questions and sharing a bit of my journey. I walked away from the experience with happy tears in my eyes and I'll never soon forget it.

So, in the end, I hope that my blog is a blessing to others, if so, I'll have fulfilled my purpose

Thank you for listening.
